Deli

Bursting with some of the best produce that Cornwall, the UK and the world has to offer, the delicatessen is a treat for food fanatics, coffee geeks and fans of real, honest food. Many of the staff have lived and worked around the world, eating and drinking enthusiastically wherever they went and much of that experience has been brought to bear on the range of food and drink in the deli.
As well as the expected range of local, regional and international cheeses, charcuterie & olives there are shelves stacked with exceptional ingredients, coffees & their brewing equipment, wines, cookware and books to inspire. Our food is sold for its quality, flavour and provenance. We do sell Cornish produce, but only if it is great Cornish produce.

Cheese

Cornish Yarg

Our counter normally carries around 40 different cheeses, some are there year round, others are special guests that appear for only a brief time.  The usual suspects are our local Cornish cheeses, Miss Muffet, Cornish Crumbly, Cornish organic brie, individual St Endellion, Wild garlic Yarg (the more interesting sibling to Nettle Yarg) and of course the World Cheese award winner of 2010 Cornish Blue.

We then have our absolute must have cheese board essentials Colston Bassett Stilton, Gorge cheddar (the only cheddar to be made in cheddar), Brie de Meaux (the grandfather of brie) or Rosary, a soft moussey goats cheese from Wiltshire.
If your cheeseboard needs to be more adventurous than traditional try Murcia al Vino a Spanish semi soft goats cheese washed in red wine, or Roquefort with its bright white paste mottled with pockets of tangy blue flavour and the complex hard cheese Lincolnshire Poacher.
We celebrate the seasons with the cheese that can turn a summer salad into a meal, genuine Greek Feta, buffalo Mozzarella plaits or squeaky Halloumi for the barbecue.  Let’s not forget the limited edition cheese that is only available from November to March Vacherin Mont d’Or, the original rich unctuous soft cheese which is baked in the box to produce an instant dinner party starter.
Our special guests are our cheeses of the month.  Each month we choose three cheeses, sometimes to celebrate a nation or a season or just to try something completely different.  We offer 10% off each cheese for the whole month and actively encourage tastings!

Charcuterie

Salami

We stock whole individual salami & chorizo or a selection of sliced salami & ham from our counter.  To create your tapas plates we have Teruel Serrano jamon & delicate Lomo (cured pork loin) from rural north east Spain.  For anti pasti we have classic Milano salami, and Sopresso a coarser garlicky companion and for a classic French picnic, Saussison Sec, great with a crusty baguette.    The versatile chorizo is our most popular range, we stock whole chorizo, hot & mild hoop, mini fresh chorizo or sliced. We also have our German Blacky Ham and French Pates which feature on our café menu.

Olives

Olives

With a choice of 8 – 10 varieties on the counter and a few others in jars we have something to suit most tastes.  The star is the Spanish Gordal queen olive, a real show stopper.

We also have some that are stuffed, some with stones others that are pitted, some that are mixed with flavours others that are plain & simple.  We get them from many suppliers from all over the Mediterranean to get the best of each type but one of the best known is Olives et Al in Dorset who have been oliving for 18 years.

Deli

French bread

Our deli is a store cupboard for the dedicated cook.  We stock some of the hard to get ingredients raved about by some of the TV chefs and cookery book writers.

We don’t promise to have everything as some are only sold in Harrods and the like or supplied by the pallet load.  If we don’t stock it we may be able to get it in or suggest an alternative which is easily available and get a similar result to save you hunting.

We actively encourage tastings of as many products from the deli as possible by featuring them on the café menu or as table condiments.

The all-time favourite has to be our fig balsam dressing which features on our salads.  This is simply a mixture of fig balsam vinegar and Brindisa Arbequina extra virgin olive oil.

With breakfast we serve Stokes real ketchup & real brown sauce, thick & delicious, made from ingredients your grandma would have had in her kitchen.

We also stock their spicy ketchup with a kick, mayonnaise, balsamic dressing & seasonal sauces and dressings.

Christmas is a crazy time of year and to make life easier we offer a simple pre-ordering service. We’ll help you put together a fantastic cheeseboard, hamper of gift set.  Then when you’re at your busiest, simply walk in and collect it on the day.
